When it comes to training these days, it seems that “research leads the way”.
For most, this makes sense- the research shows us what works, and then we move in that direction….right?

Not exactly.

More often than not, the researchers are looking to figure out why what the best coaches in the field of performance are doing, works.

In the case of strength training for cycling and triathlon, researchers are just now catching up to the use of heavy weights in strength training for performance…but there is a lot of context that is missing in these research articles, much of which can leave YOU at risk of a serious injury!

This week, we take a look at recent posts by popular and well-meaning social media coaches, which lack context and understanding of strength training, it’s risks to you, and what you should be looking to do to help you see performance gains from your strength training.
